Uses of Ostriches

Nutritional benefits:

Ostrich is a delicious healthy red meat with all the texture and hearty flavour of beef. Extremely high in protein, low in fat, calories, and cholesterol but high in Iron. Ostrich is even lower in fat grams than skinless white meat chicken or turkey, easy to digest. Eat Healthy and Live Long.

Keeping ostriches:

When keeping ostriches, you can have up to 8 per acre and 20 per hectare. But they do also need a bit of inside shelter.

Dietary needs:

Ostriches are very hardy animals and do not need water to drink as they get their water from the plants they eat, they will drink however if they have the opportunity at a water hole. Ostriches eat plants, lizards, insects, snakes and small rodents although they prefer to remain herbivore.

Guinea Fowl Farming

Guinea fowl meat is lean and rich in essential fatty acids. The meat is low in calories with only turkey meat having fewer calories. The meat is rich in vitamins such as vitamins E, B1 and B2 and minerals such as magnesium, calcium and iron. The taste is similar to wild game but more delicate and not as strong.

Keeping ostriches:

3 square feet per guinea fowl when kept in cage but they need a back area to roam around in an exercise.

If your guinea fowls are not allowed to forage, they can be fed a commercial poultry diet. It is important to use an unmedicated feed. Guineas need a higher protein feed than chickens, but do quite well on regular poultry diets. Keets need a 24% to 26% protein ration as the starter feed. When out side Guinea fowls will eat Insects,  grubs, ants, termites and small rodents.
